David Parker Ray, his girlfriend, Cindy Hendy, his daughter, Glenda Jesse, and a friend, Roy Yancy, abducted women, mainly prostiutes and runaways, in the vicinity of New Mexico. They would take these terrified women to Ray’s windowless and soundproof trailer which he referred to as the “Toy Box” where they would be stripped, strapped to a gynaecologist chair, raped by Ray and his accomplices and with large and odd shaped dildos and also tortured. The “toy box” was equipped with whips, chains, pulleys, straps, clamps, leg spreader bars, surgical blades, and saws, which he used on his victims. When Ray had enough of the women, he would strangle and then dump their bodies. It is believed that he killed more than thirty women. He would play his victims a tape of a speech he had made which was used to emotionally break them down so they would obey his commands. Following is an excerpt from the tape:

“Hello there, bitch. You’re chained, handcuffed, scared, and disoriented. Listen to this tape. It was created July 23, 1993, as an advisory for female captives based on my several years of experience. You are here against your will. You probably think you are going to be raped. You’re right about that - you will be raped thoroughly and repeatedly… My female companion and I are very selective. We’ll snatch up anything clean, young, and well built. We’re basically like predators. We’re always looking. I don’t want to kill unless it’s absolutely necessary. If I killed every victim I ever kidnapped, there’d be bodies all over the country” 

They were finally apprehended when a victim managed to escape from the “toy box”, naked, wearing only an iron slave collar and padlocked chains. She had been kidnapped and tortured for three days.
