In 2011, Angeles Cadillo-Castro was sentenced to spend between five years and life in prison for the brutal killing of her 5 year old daughter, Stephanie. When recollecting what had happened, the 32 year old mother spoke of how she became annoyed after finding the little girl asleep while she was supposed to be babysitting her younger sibling.

In an attack which supposedly lasted as long as an hour, Cadillo-Castro relentlessly struck Stephanie with a spatula and other kitchen utensils, leaving her with injuries from her neck down to her knees, as well as defensive wounds on the back of her hands from where she had tried to defend herself.

Stephanie had been beaten so badly that those working on the case claimed it was the worst case of child abuse they had experienced. Robb Parrish, a lead prosecutor, clarified that the victim had “bled to death” and went on to express how it was the result of “the worst, most severe beating” he’d ever seen of a child.
