On November 12, 1934, Charles Manson was born in Cincinnati, Ohio. The son of 16-year-old prostitute, Kathleen Maddox. In 1939, he was sent off to live with his extremely religious aunt and uncle. Sometimes he was forced to wear girl’s clothing, and was often abused. According to Manson, Kathleen once attempted to sell her son for a pitcher of beer to a waitress. At age nine, Manson adopted a new life which consisted of violence and loneliness. After escaping the local juvenile center for theft, he began living on the streets. He recalled being sexually abused by older boys and guards at the institutions.
