Christopher Lynch, 38, was arrested on Mother’s Day for beating his mother to death. Police responded to a distressing 911 call for help. When they arrived at the home they could hear Cheryl screaming. As they made their way up to the house, Christopher came towards them covered in blood and holding an iron bar with a hook on the end of it. Christopher looked at the police officers and asked them if they “wanted some” before proceeding to beat their patrol car with the iron bar.
After asking him several times to drop the weapon, they were forced to shoot him multiple times with a stun gun. He dropped the iron bar but still was able to punch and kick the officers until Deputies arrived on the scene and helped them cuff and shackle him. Police found Cheryl Lynch on her porch. She was covered in blood and her eyes were swollen shut. She was able to tell Officers that it was indeed her son who beat her, but she couldn’t remember what set him off. She was rushed to the hospital but died later that day from her injuries.
Cheryl had been her son’s caretaker ever since he suffered a traumatic brain injury during a training exercise with the U.S Army in 2000. He is currently being held in the Santa Rosa County jail without bond. He is facing charges of 1st degree murder, 2nd degree aggravated battery, 2nd degree assault on an officer, and 3rd degree resisting arrest with violence on an officer.
