In 1958, after Ed Gein was arrested for committing two murders, his 1949 Ford sedan was sold at an auction for $760—the same car he used to transport bodies he’d dug up from the local graveyard. The buyer was carnival sideshow operator Bunny Gibbons, and he traveled to country fairs with the car, which was kept inside a tent. Outside the tent displayed a sign reading, ‘’See the car that hauled the dead from their graves! Ed Gein’s Crime Car!’’ The ‘’Ed Gein Ghoul Car’’ attracted large crowds and thousands of people paid the 25 cent admission price to see it. Eventually, complaints about the morbid exploitation prompted country fairs to ban the exhibit and what happened to the car thereafter is a mystery.
